Classroom programs are available for children who are ready to play and learn with others. Children learn from each other in classrooms that are integrated with non-disabled children. Individual center or home based therapy for specific needs can be arranged for children who do not require full classroom services. In addition, our agency provides Head Start in both counties. This service makes available early childhood education and provides other resources to families whose income meets federal guidelines. Regular home visits, preschool and parental involvement are a part of this program. State, federal and county funds provide the staff positions and services available at Lincoln Uinta Development Association. the non-profit organization relies on private donations and grants to complement the existing budget. What does LUCDA have to offer?Developmental Services:
Any child in Lincoln or Uinta Counties may participate in free developmental screenings. Children eligible for special education or related services must show a delay in development or have a diagnosed developmental disability. Infant-Toddler Family Services:

Our PhilosophyWhen working with children and families, we believe that all individuals are to be supported with the emphasis on keeping the family involved and responsible for all decisions about their child and family. The following principles guide LUCDA services which support families in their establishment of healthy home environments and positive parent-child relationships.
Children learn best when they have positive feelings of self-worth and competence, when adults accept each child as he or she is, and when the child is allowed to grow and express individuality. Children learn best in an environment that is adequately equipped and planned to stimulate the senses, encouraging cognitive, emotional, language and motor development. Children learn best when the adults they interact with are positive, happy and energetic Children learn best through play. Children need lots of time to play and explore their world through "hands on" learning and direct experiances with real objects and opportunities. Children need adults to serve as facilitators, planting thoughts and allowing them to extend their own thoughts , ideas and expressions. Children learn best when adults serve as models, when teachers and parents can model correct language, behavior and social skills. Children learn best when allowed to develop at different rates and in different ways Children learn best when families are actively involved in the development and provision of services and in the relationship of with their child, while he or she is learning and developing. Children learn best when differences are looked at positively and the understanding of differences and individuality is encouraged. This is because, all children are really more alike than different. Children learn best when they are encouraged to develop social competency and build relationships. Only when those abilities to relate to adults and other children are established, will other areas of academic learning be successful. Our MissionThe mission of the Lincoln Uinta Child Development Association is to work within the community as a team to identify and facilitate the development of all children, including those with special needs and their families. The LUCDA gives information, support and intervention in order to maximize the child's potential while still respecting the family's role as primary care givers. |
