WFSN StaffLynda BaumgardnerProject Director When Lynda began working for the Governor's Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities in 1989 she established the Family Support Network. Prior to her work with the Network, Lynda taught high school and college English. Lynda has a Master's Degree in Education, but states that her best education was from her son, Dale, who was born with a significant mental disability 30 years ago. Dale lives in a group home and works at Diversified Services Inc. in Torrington. Lynda and her husband Enoch, ("Bum") have two other children, Lee 29 and Laurel 25. Lee, his wife, Tracey and three children, Madison, Jake, and Lanie Belle live in Hope Mills, North Carolina where he is stationed at Fort Bragg. Laurel received her RN degree and works at the hospital in Casper. Bum works on their ranch and keeps the home fires burning as Lynda travels the state training and supporting the Network. Carla S. JacksonAdministrative Assistant Carla has worked with the Network beginning in 1993 while it was under the umbrella of the Governor's Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. Prior to her experience with the WFSN she has worked at Denver Children's Hospital, Swedish Medical Center (Englewood, CO), and St. Francis Medical Center (Topeka, KS). Carla has been married to Gerald for 30 years. They have two children, Jennifer, a third grade teacher in Bullhead City, Arizona and Brian, Special Education Teacher, Big Lake, Alaska. They also have two dogs, Rosie (theirs), and Jay (Brian's). Pat PartonAdvocacy Specialist Coordinator Pat has been with the WFSN for four years. She has lived in Casper for twelve years, but has lived in the Rocky Mountain area for most of the last 30 years. Her husband, Ron, is a Wyoming native and was born and raised in Rock Springs. They have been married for fourteen years and have a beautiful daughter, Katie, who is ten years old (almost eleven�just ask her). Katie is a very active little girl who happens to have Down Syndrome. Prior to her participation in the WFSN, Pat was a non-traditional (that's socially appropriate language for "old") student and attained a bachelor's degree in education. For several years before that, she was in the field of retail management. Pat's current position with the WFSN allows her to pursue her passion of helping people with disabilities be full participants in their schools and communities. Diane MagillProject Director Diane is currently retired from the State of Wyoming where she worked as Children's Health Services Parent Consultant. She has been married to Richard for 36 years and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Richard Jr., Laura and Charlie Magill live in Denver. Brenda, Pete, Steven and Jessica Oswald live in Cheyenne. Lisa, Scott and Katlyn Hendrickson live in Chandler, Arizona. Robbie lives in Cheyenne. Diane and Robbie worked together on telling Rob's story and published "Welcome To Rob's World" in 1998. This book tells about the family perspective of having a child with Down syndrome. Diane has been the Parent Consultant for the Wyoming Cleft Palate Team since 1996, assuring families service by providing support, referral and advocacy skills to families. She is also a Family Voices Coordinator as of January of 2000. Family Voices is a national grassroots network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children with special health care needs. Diane is also the Project Director for the Partners in Policymaking Project. Partners in Policymaking is a leadership training program designed for parents of children with a disability and for adults with disabilities. Learn more about these projects in the Program section. Barbara PrattProject Director Barbara and her family moved here in 1981 from Ohio when Jim got a job at the Power Plant in Glenrock. They love exploring Wyoming's beautiful scenery and Wildlife. They have been married 35 years. They have 3 children, a son Richard in Phoenix, a son Scott in Portland and a 21 year old daughter Taphie who lives at home. Taphie's special needs got Barbara involved with Wyoming Family Support Network as an advocate. When Barbara is not doing advocacy work she enjoys being a stay at home mom and grandmother. Whenever there's free time the family loves to fish, camp and boat with their two dogs. |
