ACCESS Employment

Educators & Support Networks

Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) and the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation have formed a strategic partnership to support educators, support professionals, students and families in preparing for transition (age 14-21).   Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services) are five activities required by the Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA):

As you work with young adults who are preparing for transition (ages 14-21), WIND can assist in connecting you with resources for:

  • Career planning and exploration,

  • Information about work-based learning experiences,

  • School beyond high school (Post-Secondary)

  • Workplace readiness skills and

  • Self-advocacy

  • UW ECHO Network for Families

    • Connect virtually with families and other support networks to share knowledge and best practices in transition and employment with subject matter experts

  • Virtual Job Shadowing: Assist students in discovering, planning and pursuing their dreams with a unique video-based career planning platform from anywhere in Wyoming. WIND staff will provide guidance and support for using the tool with your students and clients.

  • Explore-Work online: This fun, interactive online tool will help students and clients plan for the future including finding out more about who they are and what they are good at! It will help them

    • Discover talents and jobs that may be a good fit

    • Get experience and try out jobs right now!

    • Uncover education and training options to help meet job goals

    • Learn about self-advocacy

    • Get skills to help succeed at work and school

  • Employment Readiness Scale ™:  Employment readiness is defined as being able, with little or no outside help, to find, acquire, and keep a job as well as be able to manage transitions to new jobs as needed.  The Employment Readiness Scale ™ is designed to assess strengths and challenges in relation to becoming successfully employed. For more information about this evidence based approach to assess and track students’ growth, contact us at 307-766-2938 or preETS@uwyo.edu.

WIND staff will provide guidance and support for using the tool with your students and clients.
