The purpose of the ATTAIN: New Horizons in Autism project is to develop sustained training opportunities for professionals and families who care for and/or provide services for individuals with Autism Spectrum disorders. This effort resulted in an OSEP grant (1997) focused on bringing individuals with expertise in the field of autism into the state of Wyoming. We are currently working to develop a statewide certificate program to increase knowledge of evidence based supports and services for individuals with Autism Spectrum disorders.

In addition, ATTAIN has been involved in presenting state wide conferences for families and professionals focusing on services and supports for individuals with Autism Spectrum disorders. These conferences have occurred annually and have provided opportunities for the state of Wyoming to gain information and knowledge from the leading experts in the field of autism. The conferences also have provided opportunities for collaboration between professionals and families in different parts of the state.

ATTAIN is also working with the Department of Education, Department of Health, and other state service providers and families on the Wyoming Autism Taskforce to disseminate information and services throughout the state. These efforts have resulted in applications for support from the National Professional Development Center for Autism Spectrum disorders. These efforts are ongoing and result from the efforts of a number of different individuals within the Wyoming INstitute for Disabilities.
