Basic Search

You may search the database by entering a keyword, a keyword and a program name, or both. You may also limit your search to a specific geographical area in Wyoming. The more information you enter, the more you may be able to "zero-in" on what you seek.

For example, if you enter the "disaster," in the "look everywhere" box, you will receive a list of 162 programs (as of Dec. 2007), However, if you are interested in only Red Cross disaster programs, clicking the "back to search page" link will take you back to the original search page where your previously entered terms will still be displayed. If you add the phrase "Red Cross" to the "program name" box, you will receive a list of 6 programs. Finally, if you return to search page and further limit the search to Albany county, you will receive a single program listing.

Pathways Plus is indexed using the same words as are in the subject list. If you can not find the program(s) you are looking for using the "search everywhere" and "program name" boxes, try using different and more general words and/or phrases. If that still doesn't work, try looking in the "Browse by Subject" or "Special Interest Topics" sections for related words and subjects.

When you submit a successful search, either by a keyword search or by a subject browse, you will receive a list of programs. Detailed program information may be obtained by clicking on any of the program names or by selecting one or more of the checkboxes and then clicking the "display" button. In the detailed descriptions, the links for E-mail and web pages are live, so if you click on them a corresponding action will be taken.

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search page has two sections. The first locates programs geographically, and the second locates programs by a keyword search in specific program description fields. You may use the two sections together or independently.

For example, you could search for all programs in Wheatland by selecting the circle next to "City," choosing "Wheatland" from the drop-down list of cities, and then clicking the Search button.

You could also search for specific types of programs in Wheatland. For example, you could search for programs which use the Spanish language by adding the following information to the Program information Search box:

1. select "Wheatland" in the "City" list as before
2. type "spanish" in the "Search for" box
3. select "any of the words" in the "with" box
4. and choose "Language" from the drop-down list of program fields in the "in" box

You may limit your search to the following program fields:

• all fields
• subject keyword (including the keyword definition)
• program name (including any AKAs or aliases)
• language
• program description
• eligibility requirements
• fees
• or intake procedure

Thus, for example, you could add a search for "cancer screening" with "all of the words" in "program description" to get a list of those programs which provide cancer screening, utilize the Spanish language in addition to English, and are in Wheatland, WY. Finally, you could search for programs which are likely to be free by typing "fee" in the search for box, selecting "none of the words" in the with box, and choosing the program field "fees."
