About the Trainings

WIND's Community Education Development Team projects are funded through two separate grants (CEET and MIG), focusing on enhancement of career opportunities for people with disabilities. Research, training, technical assistance and workshops are provided through these grants.

CEET: Community Education Employment Training (CEET) project is funded by the United States Department of Education and targets community development of councils combining providers, consumers and employers within a single network to enhance career opportunities for people with disabilities. CEET training and workshop topics exemplify information developed from feedback through a survey routed to various people within the state. The CEET training goal is to meet the diverse needs of professionals and individuals. CEET trainings are not specific to people, rather they target way to focus on career opportunities for people with disabilities. Trainings are geared to supply information about employment from a quality of life and general human resource perspective.

MIG: The Medicaid Infrastructure project is funded through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Services and focuses on systemic change concerning Medicaid eligibility for people with disabilities and on the relationship between health care coverage and employment. The long-term goal is to ensure continuous health care coverage for people with disabilities is uninterrupted as they seek to obtain employment. A focus group approach will be used to collect information for evaluation about health care coverage. Other components of the MIG grant include development of a community single integrated case management approach to service accompanied by a single integrated statewide data management system.

Shannon Trierweiler

Shannon R. Trierweiler has been with Wyoming INstitute for Disabilities (WIND) since December 2002. Prior to joining the WIND staff, Shannon's previous experience included management within a private non-profit provider, school administrator, and a trainer. Shannon has worked in various leadership positions since 1990. She has experience with numerous components of the career spectrum from managing shoe stores, human services that include working with gifted children, and working with people with disabilities.

Shannon completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Chadron State College with a major in Criminal Justice and plans to graduate with her Masters degree in Adult Learning and Instructional Technology through the University of Wyoming May of 2006.

Shannon's lifelong goal was to be a police officer, but due to an accident in 1993, passing a physical was not possible for her. Having a disability, her driven path was obvious, working with people with disabilities.

Shannon's personal and professional life has provided her experiential knowledge and understanding of people with disabilities. As a resident of Wyoming for most of her life, she understands the needs of today's employment professionals and the processes involved in cultivating professionals.

Some of Shannon's most recent work includes presentations on Leadership, Stress Management, The Twelve Steps to Successful Job Development, and various training topics for WIND, including What Inspiring Minds Want to Know, Community Resource and Development Strategies.
