Laramie Child Development CorporationExecutive/Head Start Director: Lorinda Lindley Family Specialist: Lily Zuniga The mission of Laramie Child Development Corporation/Laramie Head Start is to prepare low-income children for success in school and society. Valuing the voices of families, children and staff, we work together, through shared caring and concern for children, to reach each family's goals. To be eligible for Laramie Head Start, children must be age 3 or 4 by September 15. Families must meet income requirements according to the federal income guidelines. Laramie Head Start offers part-day and full-day classrooms based on child and family needs. Classes meet Monday through Friday. The teaching staff provide classroom activities and learning experiences, including field trips, based on the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and developmentally appropriate practices. Other services provided are medical and dental health, mental health and nutrition services, including daily meals, family partnership services, parent involvement activities and educational opportunities, and services to children with disabilities. Laramie Head Start depends on the community for support through donations and volunteer services. Persons interested in donating or volunteering can call the office for more information. The Laramie Head Start office is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (August through May). Laramie Head Start is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as a quality early childhood education program. |
