CDI HS Serving Big Horn Basin Early Head Start is a home-based program serving Big Horn, Hot Springs and Washakie Counties. The program has three centers available for socializations serving ten families in Worland, eighteen families in Basin, and twenty families in Lovell with a staff of seven. Five Home Visitors serve fortyeight families. The CDI HS Serving Wyoming Migrant Head Start service area covers Park County and is funded for 54 infant, toddlers, and preschool children. Based on family needs, the center-based program operates from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Classrooms begin the first week of June and finish at the end of August. Transportation is provided for all children. Families must meet the annual Head Start poverty income guidelines with 51% of their income derived from agricultural work that involves the production and harvesting of tree and field crops. Migrant farm worker families are those who are engaged in agricultural work who have changed their residence from one geographical location to another in the preceding 2-year period. Migrant Head Start is individualized, multi-cultural and utilizes appropriate developmental practices. Children whose native language is other than English are encouraged to build upon their language while English is gradually introduced. Classrooms include bilingual staff members who are able to communicate with children and their families. CDI HS Serving Wyoming Migrant Head Start services are comprehensive in their areas of education, health (physical, dental and mental), social services, nutrition, and parent involvement. Staff members develop partnerships with parents to involve them as the prime educators in the development of their children.
