Brenda Oswald 2013 Keith A. Miller Award recipient

Brenda Oswald, founder, CEO, and president of the Alliance for Self Determination, is the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities’ (WIND) Keith A. Miller Award 2013 winner. The Keith A. Miller Award is presented annually to a person who makes a powerful difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
Oswald’s company, Alliance for Self Determination, provides supports for individuals with disabilities. Their mission is: “It’s your life! We partner with you to provide flexible supports to assist you to live your life to the fullest!” Through this mission and various services, Oswald made a positive impact on many of the individuals who she works with on a daily basis.
Megan Elledge, who nominated Oswald for the award wrote, “Over the last couple of years I have noticed how Brenda is fair, trustworthy, and caring. She does so much for everyone and she always helps people be the most independent and not dependent…Brenda takes into consideration how the people at Alliance feel…She’s awesome!”
Other comments about Oswald describe her as compassionate and hard-working. Partners and staff at Alliance wrote: “She’s always an advocate,” “Brenda taught me I can get a job,” and “She’s nice, kind, and cares about us.”
WIND Executive Director William MacLean presented Oswald the award surrounded by her friends at the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities MEGA Conference Banquet.
“I am honored to receive the Keith A. Miller Award,” said Oswald.
