Tara Misra

Tara’s interest in sexual health began as an undergraduate peer educator on the east coast, facilitating workshops and participating in an on-campus sex education comedy troupe called the “Not Ready for Bedtime Players”. She went on to work extensively in HIV prevention, focused on syringe exchange services and sex worker outreach. Tara spent 6 years providing medical advocacy for women navigating crisis pregnancies and was a community organizer for reproductive justice in New Mexico.

Since completing an M.S. in 2011, Tara has offered confidential support to individuals impacted by intimate partner violence in higher education. In addition to responding to the diverse needs of survivors, she also sought to prevent violence on campus through innovative programs emphasizing personal resilience, skills for healthy relationships, and media literacy.

When not working, Tara enjoys novels, racquetball, and listening to NPR at home with her dogs, Linus and Juno, and her cat, David Bowie.
