![]() "Both training and service delivery in University Centers of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities find their roots in the interdisciplinary process. This process implies that identity as a member of a collective team supersedes individual professional identities; that persons working in the process share goals and work interdependently in all phases; that they share leadership roles; and that interactional processes are important since they affect teamwork and outcome." * Since the 60's, the need for blended services has been recognized by families and caregivers alike as an important component of providing quality services to individuals with disabilities. Understanding this, UCEDDs have worked to develop interdisciplinary training programs to help prepare service providers to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities. WIND serves this purpose by collaborating with a variety of colleges, departments and programs on the University of Wyoming campus, including the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences, and the Department of Social Work, the Women Studies Program, and the Family and Consumer Science Department. Through these programs WIND offers a comprehensive trainee program and several courses to improve and enrich the program of study for both undergraduate and graduate students. *From the Technical Manual on University Affiliated Program Core Functions |
