Dear Families and Self-Advocates,

You will find the help you need to increase your level of knowledge and understanding regarding the Medicaid Waiver system for Children and Adults. As you follow the sequence of events that take place, you will more fully understand the applicable rules and regulations regarding the Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver system. As you become more knowledgeable of the process you will in turn learn how to best advocate for appropriate services.

It has been noted for several years that there is a lack of information concerning the role of families, guardians and self-advocates as they move into the Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver system. Because of the many forms and services available, many have felt disengaged and therefore are not as involved as they would like to be.

This short and concise handbook will walk you and your family through the maze of the Medicaid waiver system. However, should you have a question or need more clarification, help is available through the Developmental Disabilities Division, 777-7115 or through the Wyoming Family Support Network, 1-800-567-9376.

My Best Wishes for your journey,
