Counterparts essential to this multi-state endeavor:
UW Extension Service and the WWAMI Medical Education Program
at the University of Wyoming had strong links with counterparts in Montana and Idaho. Specialists
with UW Extension Service and the directors of the WWAMI programs
at Montana State University and University of Idaho served as collaborators,
along with the AHEC Director at Montana. They helped plan, conduct,
and evaluate the three-state project and oversaw project activities
in their respective states. These collaborators were as follows:
Wyoming
Betty Holmes, MS, RD, served as Regional Project Coordinator; Ms. Holmes
was also
a co-principal educator for WIN Wyoming and was a senior associate on
the original grant proposal.
Kim Puls, served as Project Administrative Assistant
Mary Kay Wardlaw, MS, served as Project Education Specialist
Shelley Hill, served as community coordinator for Powell
Kathy Tatman, served as community coordinator for Torrington
The Project Director and Co-principal investigator was Sylvia Moore,
PhD, RD, Director of the Division of WWAMI Medical Education and Public
Health and Wyoming AHEC.
The other Co-principal investigator was Suzanne Pelican, MS, RD, Food
and Nutrition Specialist with Cooperative Extension Service in the Department
of Family and Consumer Sciences and coordinator of WIN Wyoming. She
also worked with the grant writer to write the proposal.
Senior associates on the project were Michael Liebman, PhD, Professor
of Human Nutrition; and Linda Melcher, MS, RD, Director of the Cent$ible
Nutrition Program with Cooperative Extension Service in the Department
of Family and Consumer Sciences and Co-principal educator for WIN Wyoming.
The grant writer was Fred Vanden Heede, MA, funded by Wyoming
AHEC.
