Without Rain, There Would Be No Rainbows

Last year, I had the opportunity to attend a conference in Hawaii. There’s something invigorating about going from the white sands of Hawaii to the white snow banks of Wyoming in just a few hours. While in Hawaii, I was intrigued to read about Kimo’s Rules, and reflected on how the rules align with WIN Wyoming principles. Some of the rules have a definite local flavor such as - speak softly, but always wear a loud shirt. Other rules offer great insights for going through life’s journey with a foundation of sound healthy principles. The first rule reminds us that without rain, we would not experience the beauty of rainbows. Just last week, I experienced my first spectacular Wyoming rainbow of the summer. There is something about a rainbow that always causes me to stop and appreciate the amazing splendor of nature. During the month of July, I offer you my adaptation of Kimo’s Rules.

• Beauty is internal.
• We often forget there are two ways to become richer - make more, or desire less.
• The best things in life are not things.
• Never judge a day by the weather (or a person by their exterior).
• Goals can be deceptive - the unaimed arrow never misses.
• If you always tell the truth, you will have less to remember.
• A person who dies with the most toys – still dies.
• Age is relative. When you’re over the hill, you tend to pick up speed.
