Laura was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming with two older brothers, a few dogs, and a hedgehog. She attended Williams College in Massachusetts where she studied biology and geology and met her now-husband on the Nordic ski team. While completing her master’s in geology at the University of Colorado, she decided to make a career change into medicine, where she can combine her passions for human biology, addressing social determinants of health, and empowering people. In early 2020 she became a Wilderness EMT and joined an EMS agency in rural Washington where she worked both as an EMT and, in 2021, to organize COVID-19 vaccination clinics. This work piqued her interest in emergency medicine, but she is excited to explore other specialties as well. She is immensely grateful for her family’s support through her career change and to be returning to Wyoming for this next chapter. In her free time she enjoys trail running, Nordic and back-country skiing, and listening to music and podcasts.
