Casey grew up across the southern and western US, but chose to make Lander his home in 2010. Before deciding to pursue medicine, he studied literature and foreign language at Trinity University in Texas, and worked in outdoor education for 10 years. Casey is drawn to rural medicine by its emphasis on service, teamwork, life-long learning and community-building. He is keen to advocate for the under-served and vulnerable in a state whose health policies often undermine the well-being of these populations. Though he is drawn to several areas of primary care, he’s keeping an open mind on the specialty he’ll pursue. Casey has a wide range of interests including woodworking, cooking, karaoke, skiing, mountaineering, music and film.
