Franklin was born and raised in rural Greenwood, South Carolina. During college, Franklin spent a semester with NOLS, the National Outdoor Leadership School. The skills learned during this expedition lay the seed for interest in wilderness and emergency medicine. After graduation from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, he ventured west to explore the rich mountain culture of Wyoming. He has spent the last seven years exploring the Tetons. Following graduation from the Montana State University Post-Bacc medical program, he returned to Jackson and worked as a laboratory tech with Extherid Biosciences and as a medical assistant in St. Johns Internal Medicine group. Franklin is specifically interested in emergency and internal medicine but is open to any path that medical school provides. Franklin enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and long adventures in the mountains alongside his dog, Rufus.
