  • Location: WWAMI Classroom/ Skills lab
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

  

(Part Two)-Schedule
  • Thursday, August 24, 2017- morning travel to Lander
  • 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.- NOLS/WUMP (Wilderness Upgrade for MEdical Professionals)
  • Orientation and review assessment skills
  • Friday, August 25, 2017- Friday September 1, 2017- NOLS/WUMP
  • Friday, September 1, 2017- return to Laramie

Immersion

Entering Class of 2017

All incoming students at all WWAMI sites are​ required to be at their sites and ready to attend Clinical Immersion & Orientation. Immersion will prepare students for the Foundations Phase of the curriculum by focusing on clinical skills practice.

Pre-Immersion Checklist

There are several administrative tasks we need from you. Please take care of the items on the below checklist. 

Throughout Clinical Immersion, incoming students will also participate in Orientation sessions aimed to familiarize students with the School of Medicine. The experience is intended to acclimatize students to the field of medicine whether in a  clinic or outdoor emergency settings. All incoming students are required to partipate in Immersion.

       

       

Important Dates:

  • Orientation for Wyoming WWAMI students will begin August 10, 2017.
  • White Coat will take place August 18, 2017.
  • Wyoming’s Immersion will begin August 24, 2017 and continues to September 1, 2017.
  • Curriculum Classes will start after the Labor Day Holiday weekend on September 5, 2017.

Students receive practical experience by participating in the simulation of emergencies in remote areas (wilderness medicine).
