WyoBio: The Wyoming Biodiversity Citizen Science Initiative currently in development

Recent advances in airborne sensors have led to a dramatic increase in the spatial, spectral and physical extent that rivers can be measured via remote sensing. To keep pace with emerging image and LiDAR technology, we have developed new field techniques for mapping bathymetry, stream velocity, and water and bed characteristics on the ground during airborne data acquisition. The scientific value of remote sensing data can be greatly increased when paired with a variety of detailed ground truth measurements. This seminar will discuss how we are using co-collected remotely-sensed data and field measurements to increase our ability to remotely map riverine characteristics and quantify geomorphic changes. More...
