2:00pm Introduction to free and open source GIS using QGIS, Paddington Hodza

This workshop provides a quick introduction to the concept of free and open source GIS software. Attendees will become familiar with the user interface of a cost-free QGIS software, and learn to use this program to explore geospatial data, and create basic 2D and 3D maps.

2:30pm GIS for Everyone: using ArcGIS Online, Alan Buss

ESRI has made it easier and cheaper (free!) for anyone to use ArcGIS through online tools. Participants will learn more about these tools as they create unique Wyoming maps.

3:00pm Wyoming’s new Geospatial Hub, Shawn Lanning

The Wyoming Geospatial Hub is the primary site for the discovery and delivery of publicly accessible geospatial data for Wyoming. This workshop will include a demo of key applications and functionality.

3:30pm New Landsat 8 Products, Ramesh Sivanpillai
USGS will be providing products such as surface reflectance, NDVI etc. that are derived from Landsat data in addition to the spectral information that is currently available. This presentation will give an overview about the products that are both currently available and those that will become available in the future.

GIS Day is a grassroots educational event that enables geographic information systems users and vendors to open their doors to schools, businesses, and the general public to showcase real-world applications of GIS. GIS Day is a global event.
