Mapping and Modeling Human West Nile Virus Infection in Wyoming

Description:
Human cases of West Nile Virus in Wyoming have increased in recent years. There are several projects currently ongoing to evaluate potential mosquito habitat and other vectors facilitating spread of the disease. Potential contributors to infection include proximity to prime mosquito habitat (wetlands), proximity to other occurrences of infection, occupation, and seasonality to name a few. We will work with other researchers to build a strong sustainable geo-database of human infections for 2003 and 2004 (to be built on in the future). We will also generate preliminary spatial relationships that may help explain patters in the distribution and spread of West Nile Virus infections in humans.
