Of five plant species that were petitioned for listing in 2007 under the Endangered Species Act, only one has become a Candidate for listing: Small rockcress (Boechera pusilla). The other four species were denied listing: Precocious milkvetch (Astragalus proimanthus), Yellowstone sand verbena (Abronia ammophila), Gibbens' beardtongue (Penstemon gibbensii), and Ross bentgrass (Agrostis rossiae). In addition, Whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) was petitioned for listing in 2008 under the Endangered Species Act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service posted the decision and supporting documentation in the Federal Register on 19 July 2011. Information on this species’ status in Wyoming will be added to this site at a later date.
