Tobacco Prevention & Control Evaluation

Welcome! Since June of 2001, the Wyoming Survey & Analysis Center (WYSAC) has maintained a contract with the Substance Abuse Division of the Wyoming Department of Health to conduct evaluation and surveillance for Wyoming's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. The Wyoming Blueprint for Tobacco Prevention published in 1999 identifies Accountability and Evaluation as “a way of assuring accountability to Wyoming citizens.”

The Tobacco Prevention and Control Evaluation team at WYSAC is committed to providing an unbiased evaluation of Wyoming’s state tobacco prevention and control efforts. These efforts are focused on:

  • Protecting residents from secondhand smoke,
  • Reducing youth tobacco use rates,
  • Increasing tobacco quit attempts and successes,
  • Eliminating nonsmokers' exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), and
  • Identifying and eliminating the disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among different population groups.

Visitors to this web page will find up-to-date information provided in user-friendly issues briefs and comprehensive reports, as well as links to other tobacco resources and Wyoming resources. Please feel free to download materials and do not hesitate to contact us for technical support. We are available to help answer any questions regarding tobacco prevention and control evaluation efforts in Wyoming.
