Communications & Technology Manager, University of Wyoming Extension

I enjoy using video to help translate agriculture and natural resource sciences into applied information for people and policy makers to make more informed decisions.

I work for the University of Wyoming Extension as the Manager in our Communications & Technology Unit. I work with Extension colleagues on campus and statewide to help share applied research through video on topics ranging from natural resource management and nutrition to community development and renewable energy. Video production fits nicely within the Extension mission of trying to provide useful knowledge from the university to the residents of our state. I have an MFA in Science & Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University.

Current Projects:

  • Exploring the Nature of Wyoming: Weekly 90 second video series exploring rangelands, natural resources, and points of interest. Also helped develop mobile app and website:
  • WYOgiants: Giant pumpkin project in Washakie county that used a giant pumpkin contest as a multimedia platform for sharing gardening and horticulture info:

WySCI Roles: Workshop Committee member

Contact me about: DIY video production (happy to help with training for those interested in making their own videos particularly on mobile devices), video collaborations (if you have a project idea that fits an Extension/engagement/outreach model I’m happy to consult and possibly help co-produce a project), video for social media and YouTube (happy to advise/consult on projects), mentorship for students who want to learn about the basics of video production, 360/VR video (still exploring this space, but looking for collaborations), audio/podcast production (advise/consult), using Zoom for meetings, etc (advise/training), always happy to chat about new ideas in video and SciComm, conversation always helps me with new ideas and connections
