Our surface analysis ultrahigh vacuum system with the controller
rack. The base of the system is the Omicron MULTIPROBE vacuum chamber that
houses a variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscope, an X-ray
photoelectron spectroscopy system, low energy electron diffraction optics, a quadrupole mass spectrometer, a sputter ion source, e-beam metal evaporators, as well as gas
manifolds. |
The MULTIPROBE
Compact surface science system from Omicron NanoTechnology.
The system can be pumped
down to pressures lower than 5x10-11 Torr
by different stages of pumps including a rotary pump, a turbo molecular pump,
an ion pump, and a titanium sublimation pump. It contains an ion gauge, a
sample manipulator with an e-beam
heater, and a fast entry load lock. |

Omicron scanning
tunneling microscope (VT STM XA 650). It is
equipped with a scanner for needle sensor AFM operation. It operates from
300-650 K with a Z-resolution less than 0.1 nm and a tunneling current range
between 1 pA and 300 nA. |
Reverse
view Omicron 4-grid SPECTALEED
optics. It features a thoriated tungsten filament,
a beam energy ranging from 0 eV to 1 keV, a focus
range of 20-500 eV, and a 45 mm-retraction. |

Omicron
EA 125 U1
hemispherical
energy analyzer for XPS studies. It features an energy resolution better than
10 meV (FWHM), multi-element Universal Lens with
selectable analysis area and acceptance angle. |
Omicron DAR 400
X-ray source for XPS studies. It features a twin anode design with an output
power up to 400 W and adjustable anode voltage up to 15 kV. |
