Students Can Win Prizes of Up to a Semester’s Tuition and Fees for Reporting Vaccinations

July 9, 2021: University of Wyoming students who report being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 have an opportunity to win a semester’s tuition and fees, along with other prizes including cash, a campus parking pass, pregame football sideline passes and dinner with President Ed Seidel. UW’s student vaccination incentive program kicks off Monday, July 12, with $300 in cash as well as other prizes going out weekly until the sixth week of the fall semester Sept. 27.

Two winners of the grand prize, covering up to $4,500 in tuition and fees, will be drawn for the fall semester -- one the week of Aug. 23, the other the week of Sept. 27. Two more will be drawn before the end of the year for the spring semester.

While vaccinations are not required for UW students and employees -- instead, they’re strongly encouraged -- students should report their vaccinations once they’ve received them. This allows the university to track overall vaccination numbers. The information is not being used for any other purpose, except to enter those who’ve reported their vaccinations into the drawing for prizes. The university’s privacy protocols are being followed.

Students who receive their COVID-19 vaccinations should upload documentation to the Student Health Service patient portal. This is as simple as taking a photo of your vaccination document and uploading the picture Student Health Portal website, using your regular UW user ID and password. This is the same portal where students report their mandatory vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella. Additionally, students can report their vaccinations by emailing photos of their vaccination documents to Student Health at studenthealth@uwyo.edu.

Only those students who submit their COVID-19 vaccination information to Student Health are eligible for the prize drawings. Students who submit proof of their first shots will be eligible for the weekly drawings; to win the tuition and fee prizes, students must have submitted proof of complete vaccination (for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, two doses). Names will be drawn weekly from the total pool of students who’ve reported at least one shot.

Cowboys Can do their part

Simple steps you can take to help keep our campus healthy and safe.

GET
VACCINATED

While it’s not required, UW students and employees are strongly encouraged to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Check out the UW vaccine page for more information.

IF UNVACCINATED,
WEAR A FACE COVERING

The university recommends that those who aren’t fully vaccinated wear face coverings.

WASH YOUR
HANDS

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds often. If you can’t, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Check out the latest CDC guidelines.

STAY HOME IF
YOU'RE SICK

The university continues to encourage students and employees to self-monitor for COVID-19-like symptoms and to not enter campus and communal spaces if they do have symptoms.

TEST WHEN
REQUIRED

UW is making plans for a limited testing program beginning July 1. It will consist of voluntary diagnostic testing that is free to the public, staff, faculty and students; and random sample diagnostic testing of 3 percent of the entire UW community on a weekly basis. Faculty, staff and students who have been fully vaccinated for two weeks -- or who have been tested in the previous five days -- will be able to opt out of the random sample testing.

REPORT YOUR
VACCINATION

Students who receive their COVID-19 vaccinations should upload documentation to the Student Health Service patient portal as soon as their vaccine series is complete. To do so, simply upload a photo of your vaccination document using your regular UW user ID and password. For employees, a quick reference guide has been created to help record this information within HCM.
