Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ENERGY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT STUDENTS

The School of Energy Resources offers scholarship opportunities for students with a declared major in the Energy Resource Management and Development Bachelor of Science program. Scholarships are available to first-time freshmen, transfer and continuing students.

 

COMMITMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

In collaboration with the University Commitment scholarships new students have the opportunity to receive merit-based scholarships with support from the Nielson Energy Scholarships.

 

NIELSON ENERGY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Nielson Energy Scholarships are designed to support highly talented students planning a career in the energy sector. These awards are possible through a generous donation by the Nielson family of Cody, Wyoming.

The Nielson Energy Scholarships support the following first-time, transfer and continuing student scholarships in conjunction with the University Commitment scholarships:

 

  • Nielson Energy Scholarship for Women and Minorities
  • Nielson Scholars
  • Nielson Performance
  • James C. Nielson Transfer Student Scholarships
  • Nielson Summer Session Scholarship

 

TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIPS

The Textbook Scholarships are available to all Energy Resource Management and Development declared majors. Awards will be determined based on cumulative GPA. First time students and continuing students are all eligible.

 


 

APPLYING FOR UW AND SER SCHOLARSHIPS

New first-time and transfer students must:

  • Complete the UW Admissions application with declared major of Energy Resource Management and Development.
  • Once receiving acceptance students will need to utilize the WyoScholarships system and successfully sign-in. This step will allow automatic consideration to the University Commitment, Nielson Scholarships and other scholarship opportunities. There are some scholarships through the system that require additional application materials.
  • Understand that scholarship awards are dependent on cumulative high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores* or previous cumulative college GPA.
  • Finally, to secure scholarship awards, students must meet the enrollment confirmation deadlines for the respective start semester.
    • Fall semester start = enrollment confirmation deadline of May 1
    • Spring semester start = enrollment confirmation deadline of November 1

Continuing students must :

  • Be a declared major in Energy Resource Management and Development.
  • Maintain good academic standing.
  • Understand that scholarship award amounts are dependent on cumulative UW GPA .

*As of Fall 2020, the University of Wyoming is temporarily test optional for ACT/SAT requirements. This is subject to change without notification.
