UW Transfer Award

The University of Wyoming is proud to offer the UW Transfer Award to incoming students who transfer to the University of Wyoming. It is awarded to incoming resident (with > 75 transfer hours), non-resident (excluding Nebraska residents), and international transfer students who do not qualify for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) award.  Transfer students must have a minimum of a 3.4 GPA and an associate's degree. SAIT students will be awarded if they meet eligibility requirements. 


UW Transfer Award amount for Resident, Non-Resident, and International Students with less than 75 crediit hours who do not qualify for the WUE award.  Excludes Nebraska Residents.·

Cannot be combined with the Western Undergraduate Exchange.

To be considered for the UW Transfer Award, the UW Admissions Office must have the following:

  • Application for admission and the non-refundable $40 admission application fee

  • Official college transcripts

  • Proof of associate's degree  (typically reflected on transcript)

  • Students are provisionally awarded the UW Transfer Award by the UW Admissions Office shortly after being admitted. Final awards are determined upon receipt of all final academic records.

Students selected to receive the UW Transfer Award must confirm their enrollment at UW by August 1, 11:59 p.m. MDT, for students beginning in the fall semester. For students beginning in the spring semester, the deadline to confirm their enrollment is December 1, 11:59 p.m. MDT.

Initial Eligibility and Scholarship Compliance

  • The UW Transfer Award is only available to first-time, entering transfer students seeking their first bachelor's degree whom have earned an associate's degree and have a minimum of a 3.4 transfer GPA.

  • This scholarship provides support for up to 4 semesters (2 academic years) or up to the first bachelor's degree whichever comes first.

  • Students must maintain full-time continuous enrollment (12 semester hours) during the fall and spring semesters each year but is not available for use during the summer semester.

  • Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester).

All UW scholarships are subject to available funding and are only available for eligible admits.
