About Us

Founded in 2010 under the guidance of initial director Tim Kuhfuss as a unified research support group for students, staff, and faculty across the University, the Advanced Research Computing Center (ARCC) is a team of highly trained professionals with backgrounds in research, computing systems, and IT support.

Our passions for research and computing are what drive us to support researchers in all phases of the research lifecycle. Curiosity is the backbone of research, and ARCC serves as the backbone of research computing at UWyo by providing high quality resources and services.

Today, ARCC is governed by the Office of Research and Economic Development.

What Does ARCC Do?

We partner with researchers to enhance scientific discovery by taking advantage of cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure!

At ARCC our cyberinfrastructure combines computing systems, data storage systems, high speed networks, and data repositories with highly skilled and ambitious people to make academic innovation and discovery possible. We also offer full and custom IT support for researchers that is beyond the scope of what a typical enterprise IT provides. Furthermore, we actively participate in proposal development that involves technology or complex computing requirements.

For more, see our section on Proposal Development.

Research Computing Support

The ARCC's primary mission is to facilitate the research of UWyo faculty, researchers, staff and students by integrating compute resources (software and hardware), networking, data storage, information management, and human resources in an approachable and adaptable manner.

The major ARCC resources available across UWyo are: Teton (HPC cluster), the petaLibrary (research storage), Linux desktop support, and HPC consulting. Other services available by arrangement.

  • Teton - 98% uptime (not counting scheduled outages)
  • PetaLibrary - 99.99% uptime
  • Research computing Training/consulting - business hours only
  • Linux desktop support - best effort, business hours only

Access to/help with these resources can requested here: ARCC Access Request Forms. For further information, see ARCC Resources.

We exist to support researchers in any way we can. If you need assistance, please reach out to us through our contact page.
