Volunteers are highly valued and relied upon at the Art Museum. Each year, volunteers contribute hundreds of hours, and their energy and expertise allow the museum to succeed in its goal of bringing culture and art education to the people of Wyoming. If you are interested in volunteering, take a look at the opportunities below and contact the corresponding Museum staff member.

Volunteer Opportunities

Docent Program

Docents receive museum training and provide critical support for the museum's programs, including Shelton Studio programs, museum tours and special programs and projects. As a docent, you will have the chance to meet artists whose works are on exhibit, enjoy the camaraderie and explore the world of art.

We are starting a Student Docent Program through the Museum and Archive Coalition, a registered student organization at the University of Wyoming. University students from all backgrounds and levels will receive training and give once per month tours of current museum exhibitions. Other opportunities exist to help with education and public programs, collections management and more.

For more information, contact our Curator of Education and Statewide Engagement, Katie Christensen at katie.christensen@uwyo.edu or 307-766-3496

Teen Volunteer Program

We are currently strategizing a revamped Teen Apprentice Program into the Teen Volunteer Program. If you know a young person between the ages of 12 and 17 who is interested in community service hours in a creative field please have them fill out the application form.

For more information or questions contact Katie Christensen, Curator of Education and Statewide Engagement at Katie.christensen@uwyo.edu or 307-766-3496.

Other

Volunteer opportunities exist through the education program and through our special events programming, such as the Gala and Happy Holidays, Laramie! For more information on how to become a volunteer, contact our Education Curator.
