Shanghai Scholarship

The University of Wyoming is committed to internationalization to prepare our students for the challenges of a globalized society. Dean Oliver Walter has been instrumental to this important mission at UW. Under his leadership, many international-related programs have been established and enhanced. One particular exchange program Dean Walter has been devoted to is the faculty/student exchange between the University of Wyoming and universities in Shanghai, China. Over the last 20 years, he visited Shanghai countless times, presenting seminars and meeting with faculty, students and administrators. He also facilitated mutual visits by UW faculty and students to universities in Shanghai. Due to his efforts, the UW Trustees designated Shanghai University and Shanghai Normal University as strategic international partners of the University of Wyoming

To honor Dean Walter’s significant contributions to the internationalization at UW, particularly to the UW-Shanghai exchange program the UW International Program Office and Student Affairs Office, and College of Arts and Sciences would like to establish a special scholarship – The Oliver Walter Shanghai Scholarship. The scholarship will support UW faculty, staff, and students in all aspects of exchange activities between UW and China, especially Shanghai, China.

If you would like to contribute to the scholarship, please make your check payable to “University of Wyoming Foundation” and clearly state that your donation should go towards the Oliver Walter Shanghai Scholarship.
