“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”
— Oprah Winfrey.
Please Join us for our first ever Diverse Graduate Student Mentoring Program!
Hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Office of Graduate Education
For more information about this program please click here!
Purpose: The purpose of this program is to create a setting where diverse graduate students feel supported, encouraged, connected and empowered by faculty/staff here at the University of Wyoming. This program will allow for students to learn and grow from their respective mentors so that they may thrive during their time at UW.
Who: All graduate students, faculty, and staff interested in forming mentor partnerships that support eliminating barriers specific to diverse graduate students.
This program is particularly recommended for all new URDM graduate students, including those with URDM GA positions.
Commitment: Minimum of two meetings a month, consisting of one coordinated group meeting for all mentor program participants to check in and discuss life, school, stress, research, dissertations/thesis, overall well-being, etc., and one individual one-on-one meeting between mentor and mentee. This can be done over zoom or in-person (depending on the respective comfort levels of each mentor/mentee).
If you are interested in serving as a mentor or being a mentee please fill out the “Get to Know You” survey HERE!
This survey will help us pair you up with a mentor/mentee with mutual interests.
Our first meeting will be September 8th from 3-4PM in the Half Acre Classroom. Snacks will be provided!
Hope to see you there!
