Alpha Sigma Phi was founded at Yale University on December 6, 1845 and is the 10th oldest collegiate fraternity in America. Principla Founder, Louis Manigault, was looking to join a sophomore society at Yale University but felt like the then sole society was condescending and obnoxious and therefore decided to begin his own society. The fraternity was founded upon the values of character which were once secret but made public in 2005. These values include: silence, charity, purity, honor, and patriotism. Silence, encouraging clarity of thought, protecting our secret ritual. Honor, defending out integrity as men through action and leadership. Purity, that we may hold our personal Truth above the noise of society. Charity, to unite our neighbors under a common spirit. Patriotism, the cause that bends every brother together.

To Better the Man, through the creation and perpetuation of brotherhood founded upon the values of character: Silence, Charity, Purity, Honor, Patriotism.
