William Mai, Vice President Government and Community Affairs

Bill Mai is a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Range and Wildlife Management (1987) and MBA with an emphasis in economics (1989), he has spent his career in a variety of leadership positions with the State of Wyoming and the University. From November 2013 to June 2018 he served at the Vice President for Administration at the University of Wyoming. He was the Interim Vice President for Administration from 2019-2020 before being asked to step into the role of Vice President for Government and Community Affairs.

 

Bill Mai has also served as the Chief Economic Advisor and Legislative Liaison for the Wyoming Governor’s Office. He has  served as a legislative analyst, senior legislative analyst, and manager of the Budget/Fiscal Division of the Legislative Services Office and administrator of the Economic Analysis Division of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information. In these roles, he has served as co-chairman of the Consensus Revenue Estimating Group (CREG), the team charged with forecasting Wyoming’s bi-annual revenue and earnings to the Wyoming General Fund and as lead staff to the Wyoming Legislature’s powerful Joint Appropriations Committee. In these roles, he has helped guide the funding decisions related to operational and capital requests from the University of Wyoming, the community colleges, and economic development agencies in the State.
