Using the Clipboard

The clipboard is a temporary storage area that facilitates the movement of data between applications, or between different parts of the same application. To use it, select the item you wish to copy, and use the Copy command (Ctrl-C or Copy in the Edit menu) to copy it to the clipboard.

You may use the Cut command (Ctrl-X or Cut in the Edit menu) if you want to delete the selected item in addition to copying it.

Then, go to the location where you want the item to appear, switching applications if necessary, and use the Paste command (Ctrl-P or Paste in the Edit menu) to insert the contents of the clipboard at the new location.
