Course Overview: The Energy Resource Management course requires students to work within an integrated team to research and analyze data to inform an asset evaluation and acquisition plan. This course requires students to apply the content knowledge and process skills learned throughout the ERM, Law, or MBA programs. Using the business school case method at a teaching approach, this course provides students with an opportunity to articulate and develop critical insights and to experience applications of theoretical models, frameworks, and concepts to actual business situations. Additionally, this course provides students with opportunities to further refine their ability to communicate with professional, academic, and public audiences through writing and oral presentation.  The production of an asset evaluation and acquisition plan requires a combination of extensive research, analysis, and report writing that mirrors real-world work in energy resource management.   

 The Class will be taught in Four Modules:

1: The Global Oil and Gas Industry and Shale Gas Revolution

2: Managing Uncertainty: Legal, Environmental, Regulatory, and Pricing

3: The Cost of Capital

4: Acquisitions and Divestitures: Due Diligence and Project Analysis
