Matt joined the College of Law as director of student academic success in January of 2023. He received his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law, graduating with honor in May of 2022. He is an attorney in good standing in Missouri. During his time in law school Matt was the student director of the Defender Aid Clinic. As the director of the clinic, he lead a team of student attorneys, interns, and a social work student while overseeing dozens of cases, including successfully negotiating plea deals, sentencing mitigation, and a case that ended in an acquittal following a bench trial. He also secured two acquittals at the conclusion of a felony jury trial in his third year as a law student and conducted oral argument before the Supreme Court of Wyoming during an appeal of a first-degree murder case. For his work as the Defender Aid Clinic student director, he was presented with the Outstanding Clinic Student Award from the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA). Matt was awarded the Terry Mackey Scholarship and Chief Justice Davis Scholarship at the conclusion of Summer Trial Institute. Matt is also an adjunct professor, teaching criminal procedure with the Criminal Justice Department at the University of Wyoming. He is a member of the Association of Academic Support Educators.
