William Robertson Coe Library

About Coe Library

William Robertson Coe Library opened in 1957 as the main library for the University of Wyoming. A separate history of Coe Library is coming soon. It has subsequently had two major additions, in 1978 and 2009 making it two and a half times the size of the original building and the largest library in the state.

Coe Library is located between the Wyoming Union and Ivinson Street. The entrance is on the north side of the building, across the walkway from the Wyoming Union. See our Maps + Locations for detailed information on UW Libraries branch and item locations.

Services

Coe Library offers several services for students, faculty, staff, and the community including:

The Help Desk, near the main entrance, checks out library materials, study rooms, laptops and iPads, and course reserves (level 2 east) as well as answers research questions. Librarians provide support to students, faculty, staff, and the community in understanding and utilizing information and digital literacies. Research or instruction support is available through appointmentsresearch guidesworkshops, and more.

Items borrowed through Prospector and Interlibrary Loan may also be checked out from the Help Desk. Through Prospector and Interlibrary Loan, users have access to materials located in Wyoming, Colorado, and from around the world.
