Call for Proposals and Presentations

Authors are invited to contribute to the 1st Annual SIAM Northern States Section Conference by the following formats:


A mini-symposium consists of 1 to 4 sessions. Each session consists of 3 to 4 25-minute presentations. Prospective organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a 200-word description, and a list of speakers and titles of their presentations. A speaker can give up to two different presentations for two different mini-symposia.

The committee of SIAM Northern States Section annual meeting will referee all proposals. Upon acceptance of the proposal, each speaker will be asked to submit a 100-word abstract to describe their work and a brief introduction of themselves.

SIAM will not be able to waive registration fee for mini-symposium for organizers and speakers, or reimburse their expenses.

Contributed Presentations (Lecture or Poster Format)

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas of applied mathematics.

  • Lecture Format: 15-minute oral presentation, with an additional five minutes for discussion.
  • Poster Format: use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4' x 6' poster board.

Each contributor (poster or lecture) must submit a title and an abstract (< 200 words). The abstract should be a concise narrative that describes the contributed research presentation. The abstracts should give a clear indication of the objective, scope and results to be reported in the presentation.

Undergraduate Mini-Symposium

Undergraduates have an opportunity to present research of their own at the mini-symposium.
