MBA Finance Track

Choosing a finance focused degree path prepares you to be a well-versed finance professional, responsible for managing and improving wealth for a number of entities. Whether it be for families, small businesses, or large corporations, you will require an advanced skill-set tailored to understanding investment strategies and a number of technically advanced skills. The University of Wyoming MBA Program will provide you with the knowledge you need to effectively implement management and leadership aspects of business with technical skills needed for careers in finance.

Completing our specialized finance track will improve your knowledge and your decision-making capability, making you an asset in today's competitive marketplace.

Pre-Term Expectations

Students will be required to take a pre-term assessment to determine their proficiency in quantitatively-based subjects. Deficiencies in these subject areas will require completion of a short foundational course (approximately 20 hours of time required to complete each course). Addressing potential deficiencies prior to beginning the MBA core curriculum will ensure that all students are equipped for success in their subsequent studies.

Students will also participate in a one to two-week team building orientation prior to the start of their fall coursework.

Finance Courses

Upon successful completion of all MBA core curriculum requirements, students in the finance track will take 21 additional credit hours to satisfy the finance track course requirements in the second Fall and Spring semesters:

  • Topics: Valuation

  • Wealth Management

  • Energy Finance: Securities, Hedging & Trading

  • International Business

  • Energy Finance: Project Evaluation
