Mission Statement

The voice faculty at the University of Wyoming hold the teacher-student relationship in the highest regard. They desire to guide students to develop their voices in a manner that demonstrates sound vocal pedagogy, sets high standards for the outcome of performance, and promotes the development of healthy technique and good practice habits.

Students will learn to use their voices in service of a great artistic tradition, toward promotion of community, and as a vehicle for expression and communication. In the classroom, students will glean knowledge and develop through choral and soloistic opportunities. Student colleagues will be supportive of each other in their vocal pursuits, recognizing that each instrument and experience is unique. Healthy competition through state and regional competitions will help measure their talents and expose them to their peers within the region.

Students who pursue a vocal education at UW will receive performance opportunities through studio classes, joint and solo recitals, convocation performances, and choral ensembles. Additionally, students will enjoy exposure to established vocal talent in the form of master teachers and internationally recognized performers brought to campus for recitals and master classes.
