The 15 semifinalists for the University of Wyoming Idol competition will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.
Friday Night Fever, scheduled the same night, sponsors the Disney animated film “Wreck-it Ralph,” which features the voices of actors John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman. The film will be shown at 6:30, 9 and 11:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Both Friday Night Fever events are free and open to the public.

The judges are allotted two minutes to critique each singer before providing their scores. The top five contestants at the end of the evening will move on to the final round Friday, Feb. 15. The finals event will feature a guest judge from the Puerto Rican-based a cappella group, Nota, that will perform on campus Friday, Feb. 22. Nota was the 2009 winner of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.”
UW Idol finals prizes are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, $300 for third and $100 for the audience choice. Additionally, the first-place winner will have the chance to sing with Nota during its Feb. 22 campus performance. UW students are admitted free to the Nota performance.
