Filmmaker Alison Teal Blehert Kohen will share some of her adventures in exotic places Wednesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.
For the past eight years, Teal has documented her adventures through filmmaking, recording a variety of cultures, environments and experiences. With her pink surfboard in one hand and a camera in the other, she produces films that shed light on an exciting life of reaching out and learning about other places and people.
“Additionally, she has been an inspirational speaker, sharing her adventures throughout the United States,” says senior Ashley Saulcy of Colorado Springs, Colo., a member of UW International Studies Club. “She’ll discuss the quality of living outside her comfort zone and constantly taking risks, with the intent of encouraging others to do the same.”
With adventure photographers and explorers for parents, Teal grew up around the world. Homeschooled in lessons on nearly every continent, she has been traveling since she was two months old.
The UW International Studies Student Club hosts the event. The program is sponsored by the Associated Students of UW, the International Programs Office, Laramie County Community College Across Cultures Club, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, the Global and Area Studies Program, Alpha Epsilon Delta and the Political Science Club.
