Numerous students will participate in the University of Wyoming multicultural graduation ceremony Thursday, Dec. 11, at 3:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.
The UW International Students and Scholars office will give each graduate a stole that represents the flag of his or her home country. The UW Multicultural Affairs office will present graduates with kente-style woven stoles that include colors and symbols reflecting the graduates’ ethnicity or culture.
“Multicultural graduation recognizes the perseverance and dedication our many multicultural and international students have demonstrated throughout their UW educations,” says Jill Johnson, associate director of admissions. “We take this time to celebrate them as they graduate from the University of Wyoming.”
The celebration can be viewed via WYOCAST (http://msite.uwyo.edu/WyoCast/Play/680cae11ef35465bbbcf83f55c5e83001d), allowing many of the students’ families from distant countries to participate.
A schedule of other UW commencement ceremonies set for Dec. 12-13 can be found at www.uwyo.edu/commencement.
