University of Wyoming Calendar for March 7

These are among the activities scheduled March 7-13 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, March 7, 3:10 p.m. -- The Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Seulgi Moon, assistant professor of geology at the University of California. She will discuss “Rain, Uplift, and Erosion: Climatic and Tectonic Controls on Landscape Evolution” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. Free.

Monday, March 7, 5 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host “Night at the Museum” for families. A variety of free art activities will be offered at the Art Museum. Free pizza will be available.

Tuesday, March 8, noon -- The American Heritage Center presents New York Times best-selling author C.J. Box. He will read excerpts and sign copies of his new book, “Off the Grid,” at the American Heritage Center Stock Growers Room, Centennial Complex. Free.

Tuesday, March 8, 7 p.m. -- UW’s debate team will host “Wyoming’s Fiscal Health: Charting a Sustainable Course,” a public debate and roundtable discussion, in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom. Refreshments provided. Free.

Wednesday, March 9, noon -- The School of Energy Resources Speaker Series presents the Engineering Initiative Seminar, “Advances in Power System Wide Area Monitoring Locating the Source of a Forced Oscillation and Adverse Impact of Lossy Data Compression.” The seminar will be in the College of Engineering Building, Room 3076. Lunch provided. Free.

Wednesday, March 9, 7 p.m. -- The UW Department of Art and Art History presents Elizabeth J. Moodey, assistant professor of art history at Vanderbilt University. Her talk, “Laying Out the Case for Crusade in a Medieval Chronicle,” will be in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Wednesday, March 9, 7:30 p.m. -- UW Cultural Programs presents Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $25 for the public; $20 for faculty, staff and senior citizens; and $10 for students. Thursday, March 10-Friday, March 11 -- The Center for Advising and Career Services will host the UW Teacher Fair 2016, open to all interested teacher candidates, in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Registration required.

Thursday, March 10, 7 p.m. -- Studio WYO presents musical groups Stella Luce and The Raven and the Writing Desk in the Wyoming Union Gardens. Free.

Friday, March 11, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “The Jewel of the Solar System.” A Daft Punk laser light show follows at 8:10 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, March 12, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Two Small Pieces of Glass.” After the show, attendees can create their own telescopes. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, March 12, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance will host the American College Dance Association’s Northwest Conference Gala Concert in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. The concert will showcase the work of festival participants. Tickets cost $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $7 for students.
