logo

The University of Wyoming Art Museum will host “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators” Wednesday, April 6, from noon-12:30 p.m.

An informal gallery walk-through with museum curators and special guests is planned the first Wednesday of each month during the spring semester. Each conversation will feature a different exhibition. Visitors are encouraged to bring lunch and continue the conversation after the 30-minute session. This event is free and open to the public.

April’s event will discuss “From Samurai to Geisha: Depictions of Gender in Japanese Ukiyo-e Woodblock Prints,” a new exhibition opening April 2. Visitors will be joined by Art Museum Curator of Education and Statewide Engagement Katie Christensen; Curator of Collections Nicole Crawford; and Kayle R. Avery, an undergraduate intern who assisted in curating the exhibition.

Discussions will be casual and informal, and will include stories behind the art.

For more information, call the Art Museum at (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum, or follow the museum on Facebook and Instagram.

Through its “Museum as Classroom” approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. The museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie. Hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m-5 p.m. Monday hours are extended to 7 p.m. February through April and September through November. Admission is free.
