UW International Research Fellows Selected

The University of Wyoming Center for Global Studies (CGS) has selected its faculty international research fellowship awards recipients for 2016.

Through its support for interdisciplinary faculty and student international projects, the CGS seeks to advance UW to the next level of excellence in internationally focused research to devise solutions to complex global problems.

“These projects show the center’s commitment to support international research projects addressing a wide spectrum of evolving international challenges and topics,” says CGS Director Jean Garrison.

The fellows and their research projects supported by CGS:

Yi-ling Chen, Global and Area Studies Program -- “The Formation of Social Rental Housing: Comparative Housing Policies in Europe, USA, and East Asia,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Leah Hardy, Department of Art and Art History -- “Australia from Camelback,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Thorsten Janus, Department of Economics and Finance -- “Economic Shocks and Political Transitions,” CGS-Wallop “Conversations in Democracy” Award.

Marianne Kamp, Department of History -- “Cold War, Religion and Family Transition in Central Asia,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Krista Lewellyn, Department of Management and Marketing -- “The Dynamics of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Distress,” CGS-SER Nielson Research Excellence Award.

Charles Mason, Department of Economics and Finance -- “Racing to the Bottom at the Top of the World? Strategic Arctic Oil and Gas,” CGS-SER Nielson Research Excellence Award.

David Messenger, Global and Area Studies Program/History -- “Museums, Memory, Human Rights and Democracy in Contemporary Spain,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Melanie Murphy, Department of Ecosystem Science and Management -- “Amphibian Connectivity in a Semi-Arid Environment,” CGS-SER Nielson Research Excellence Award.

Ursula Norton, Department of Plant Sciences -- “Sustainability of Small-Scale Farming and Local Food Systems in Poland as Viable Alternatives for Wyoming,” CGS-SER Nielson Research Excellence Award.

Suzan Pritchett, College of Law -- “Spacialities of (In)Justice: Exploring Alternative Sites of Gender Justice in Post-Conflict Transition,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Mark Ritchie, Department of Art and Art History -- “Horse and Culture Exploration, Hungary, China, Mongolia and Wyoming,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Derek Scasta, Department of Ecosystem Science and Management -- “Travel Exchange to Link Ecology and Production of Analogous Rangelands of the North and South Hemispheres,” CGS Research Excellence Award.

Jason Toohey, Department of Anthropology -- “Utilizing Archaeological Data as a Proxy for Environmental Change and ENSO Activity on the Peruvian North Coast,” CGS Research Excellence Award.
