The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s spring Faculty Recital Series continues with a free performance by violist Glêsse Collet and pianist Theresa Bogard Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.
The program, “Taste of Brazil,” will feature a variety of 20th century composers whose work is influenced by Brazilian popular and traditional music styles. Featured composers are Claudio Santoro, Francisco Mignone, Fructuoso Vianna, Osvaldo Lacerda, Guerra Vicente, Guerra-Peixe, Francisca Aquino and Ricardo Vasconcellos.
Collet is emeritus professor of viola at the University of Brasilia, where she taught viola, chamber music and orchestra. Currently a guest faculty member at UW, she has received many honors, including "Best Chamber Music Group of the Year" in 2004.
Bogard, chair of the Department of Music and keyboard area coordinator at UW, is equally at home as a solo pianist and collaborative artist. She can be heard on the Fleur de son, Centaur, and Albany record labels.
