University of Wyoming Calendar for Sept. 19

These are among the activities scheduled Sept. 19-25 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. -- The Center for Advising and Career Services will host the Pharmacy Fair in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “This Month’s Sky.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Wednesday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. -- “What Makes Us a Human Family,” a panel discussion, will take place in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The discussion is in conjunction with “The Bridge,” an international, interfaith art exhibition. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 21, 8 p.m. -- 7220 Entertainment presents funk band The Motet in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 1:10 p.m. -- Grammy-winning composer Libby Larsen will discuss her music and career in the Performing Arts recital hall. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 6:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. San Jose State, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m. -- Studio WYO presents Laramie band Harpoon, The Whale. The group will be joined by Colorado bands You Never Were and Bridges Will Break in the Wyoming Union Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 7:30 p.m. -- UW Department of Music faculty and guests will perform a concert, “Songs from Letters,” in the Performing Arts recital hall. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 8 p.m. -- Cowboy Country Swing Club will offer swing dancing lessons in the Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. Open dance will follow at 9 p.m. Free.

Friday, Sept. 23, 3 p.m. -- The UW strategic planning kickoff will feature a keynote address by F. King Alexander, president of Louisiana State University, in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Free and open to the public.

Friday, Sept. 23, 4 p.m. -- Bonnie Pitblado, University of Oklahoma anthropology professor, will present the 18th annual Frison Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology/Wyoming Archaeology Awareness Month Lecture. She will discuss “The Role of the Rocky Mountains in the Peopling of the Americas” in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources auditorium. Free.

Friday, Sept. 23, 5:30 p.m. -- Art historian and critic Suzaan Boettger will discuss “Affective Environmentalism in Contemporary Sculpture & Photography” in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Friday, Sept. 23, 6:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. -- The 7220 Entertainment Films Committee presents “Finding Dory” in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Free.

Friday, Sept. 23, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Greek Mythology.” A STAR Observatory tour follows at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Light.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.
