Local and regional law enforcement officers will participate in active shooter response exercises Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 14-15, in the basement of the University of Wyoming Classroom Building.
Exercises are scheduled from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday.
“We want to alert the public to alleviate possible concerns about the training,” says Mike Samp, UW Police Department chief. He says signs placed on the entries to the Classroom Building will inform the public about the training.
“This will be scenario-based training including the use of simunitions (wax bullets) in the Classroom Building basement,” Samp says. “Uniformed officers and marked patrol vehicles will frequent the area.”
The UWPD will lead the training exercises.
